It’s winter time, and if you’re keen on buying a brand new Mitsubishi heat pump from us, be sure to ask us about R32 refrigerant. This next-generation refrigerant has heat pump specialists like us very excited, and it should excite you too. You might not think a heat pump refrigerant is something you could get overly enthusiastic about, but if you want to do your bit to look after our planet, and optimise the performance and efficiency of your heat pump, then take it from us – it’s worth your attention.
When used in heating mode during winter months, your heat pump’s exterior unit absorbs heat from the cold air outside and transfers it inside your home. The key to this transfer is the refrigerant within the heat pump – it is the heat transfer medium responsible for keeping you warm. Until recently, many refrigerants were damaging to the environment, such as ozone depletion and global warming. However, R-32 has a lower environmental impact and is even more efficient at carrying heat through the heat pump system:
- R32 is capable of reducing electricity consumption by up to 10% compared to other refrigerants.
- R32 is officially recognised as having Zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP): in other words, this new-generation refrigerant has zero potential to deplete our ozone layer.
- R32 is also officially recognised as having Reduced Global Warming Potential (GWP): that means it has a global warming potential of only 1/3 of traditional R410-A, a refrigerant that is used in many older heat pump models.
Maybe now you’ll see why we’re so excited about the use of R32 refrigerant in new-model Mitsubishi heat pumps. Even with old-fashioned refrigerants, heat pumps were far more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly heating sources than everything else on the market, including wood burners and electric heaters. But R32 refrigerant takes things to a whole new level, making modern heat pumps even better.
We can’t see any other heat source offering the same combination of benefits as a heat pump in terms of low energy use, high energy output per dollar invested, convenience, ease of operation, performance and effectiveness in heating (or cooling) a space. And that was before R32 came along! So to keep yourself nice and cosy this winter, in a way that’s good for the planet, contact us and ask about R32 as part of your new heat pump investment. And don’t forget, we’ll expertly install your heat pump as well.
