The real value of a refrigeration system shows up years after install day.

Yesterday proved that.

 

During a gas cooler changeout on an EPTA CO2 rack we installed around eight years ago, an issue took down the rack's main controller overnight. With almost any other system on the market in NZ, that would have meant roughly half the store without refrigeration when the doors opened this morning.

 

Instead, nothing happened. At least, nothing anyone noticed.

 

When we designed and installed that system, we built in provision for exactly this kind of event: a backup controller running EPTA's patented software, fitted to each rack at manufacture. When the main controller went down, the backup took control of the rack. It ran through a series of diagnostic checks, prioritised the most critical services and fixtures, and brought the store back online without fanfare and without any stock loss.

 

The owner woke up to no problems. No panicked calls, no scramble to empty fixtures. Just another day of selling groceries.

Meanwhile, our team is calmly organising the equipment and repairs to restore the main controller. Once it's back up, the backup will go quietly back into standby, ready for the next time it's needed.
